National Music Center
Calgary, Alberta. This space showcases a vast collection, including more than 2,000 rare instruments and artifacts, one of Elton John’s pianos, including the Tonto synthesizer, Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame collections. Its interior and exterior are clad with more than 226,000 pieces of custom glazed terracotta tiles made in Germany and fired in the Netherlands. The sunlight reflecting on the tiles at the break of dawn is as majestic as the Canadian Rockies.
